Live strategies, not dead plans.
Noostrategy is a new kind of agentic strategy practice, creating live strategies played by humans and agents. Strategy becomes the organization's shared thinking layer, guiding the work and learning from it.
Giving organizations their agency back.
Most organizations gave up their agency long ago to rituals built for a time when thinking was scarce. The offsite, the deck, the plan that runs until someone notices the world has moved. Now many are preparing to hand the rest to automation, and a dead plan can execute itself faster than anyone can pull the plug.
Agentic strategy takes the agency back, with machines rather than against them. The agents read everything and keep the maps current. The humans make the leaps and the calls. The strategy stays in play for as long as the organization plays it, and it learns from the work as it happens.
Why noo.
Noo comes from nous, the Greek word for mind. A century ago Vladimir Vernadsky described the planet in three layers: the geosphere of rock, the biosphere of life and, emerging from them, the noosphere of thought. Once thought appears, it starts reshaping the other two.
Noostrategy is that layer in an organization: its mind, shared by humans and agents, reshaping the whole organism into its next form.
What we do.
We write about agentic strategy. We've built the instruments for it. And we run it with organizations that intend to stay in the game.
The method is Live Strategy, a theory of how the organization wins and a practice of shifts, bets and experiments that tests it. The Strategy Ensemble plays it, every role played twice, once by an agent and once by a human. The Strategy Canvas is where it is made and played, on the organization's own files. How it works has the steps.
Who is behind it.
Noostrategy is run by Ville Tikka, a strategist in Helsinki. The method, the instruments and the memos live here. The person, the talks and the strategy work with organizations are at villetikka.com, and every proposal is signed by Ville. The practice also hosts the AI in Strategy evenings in Helsinki.
The words we use.
- Agentic strategy
- Strategy made and played by humans and AI agents together. Not advice on adopting AI.
- Live strategy
- A strategy that stays in play, revised on what the market does and what the organization learns, for as long as it is played.
- Necrostrategy
- The dead plan: thought once, then kept moving on habit.
- Autostrategy
- The self-running firm: strategy handed to automation, with nobody left to pull the plug.
- Theory of success
- The organization's own explanation of how it will create value, written so it can be wrong.
- Shift
- A structural change from the present system to the future one, resting on the chosen theory.
- Bet
- A committed piece of work that advances a shift and tests one of the theory's claims.
- Experiment
- A small test that informs a bet: quick, cheap and easy to stop.
- The Strategy Ensemble
- The humans and the agents who play the strategy, every role played twice.
- The Strategy Canvas
- Where the strategy is made and played, on the organization's own files.
- The Strategy Roast
- A free web tool at strategyroast.com: eight questions about an organization, answered in a browser, and a written read of where it stands.
